Short synopsis

This documentary is a compilation of the performances of the 10 harpists who played at the recent harp concert in the Cultúrlann in Derry in December 2009. This unique music documentary is composed of a selection of the ten best tunes played there.

Each harpist and each tune are introduced by Nodlaig Brolly, a harpist from Derry. She is telling us the story of Dennis O'Hampsey, Edward Bunting's work, the secrets of the original 1792 Belfast Concert, what tunes the harpists are playing in 2009 concert, and why they chose one tune over another.

Through the eye of our behind the scenes camera and the interviews of the performers, the audience discovers the secrets of the original concert and the personalities of the last Irish harpers who played in the ancient way. Their demise marked the end of a tradition of a classical modal music once common to all the Celtic countries. .enddiv
